Game Genie: Resign Tutorial

Postby GameGenieBob » Fri Mar 01, 2013 8:44 pm

Resigning save files is a relatively simple process.
Though sometimes it can be a pain, and you may need to repeat these steps.

Step One

First of all you are going to need "save your profile" so that GG has a record of any save files linked to your PSN Account.
Image One - http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y224/l ... esign1.png
As you see in the image, on the right side of GG it shows "Profiles".
I have my saves set to a profile called "MY PS3".
There are a few saves there with no profile assigned to them, these are from another PS3.

Step Two

Once you upload one of your own saves to GG, right click on it and select Extract Profile.
Image Two - http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y224/l ... esign2.png
You will get the following box open up.
Image Three - http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y224/l ... esign3.png
If you have no profiles already set you'll be given one called "Profile 1". Right click it and select "Rename".
Name it something to do with your PS3 Account. Either "My PS3" or maybe your PSN Username.
Once you have chosen your name, tick the box next to it and select Apply.
That will apply that profile to any save from that PSN Username.

Step Three

If you have put somebody else's save onto your GG it will not be assigned a profile.
Follow 'Step Two' to assign a profile name to it. As you will see here I have assigned somebody else's save the name "FRIENDS PS3"
Image Four - http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y224/l ... esign4.png

Now on the right side of GG you can see it shows which Save Files belong to MY PS3 and which ones belong to my FRIENDS PS3.

Now once you have your profiles assigned, you will want to Right Click the save file you wish to Resign.
Select "Re-sign..."
And then select the Profile you want to Resign it to.
Image Five - http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y224/l ... esign5.png

After selecting "MY PS3" or whatever you assigned YOUR profile to be, apply the Resign.

That should do the trick. You should now be able to load the save on your PS3.

Note: Sometimes you may get an error message that the profile isn't yours and that you cannot load another users save file.
In that case you may need to retry these methods again.
It could take a few times to work.

If you still get issues with it, post in the support section.

Re-signing the save file to your username shouldn't corrupt it.
I would assume the save file is corrupt beforehand.

If you download someone else's save their Playstation Network account will be assigned to that save.

Say I provide for you a save. You upload it to your PS3, you wont be able to play it because PS3 will recognise it as belonging to another user.

Resigning basically takes off the original playstation network username and you can replace it with your own. So then you are able to load my save on with your PSN account.

I have been trying to do this all evening. I Feel as if I am following the instructions correctly, but every time I load the game (Metal Gear 3 HD) it says that the file was created by another player and disable trophies. Do you have a video of how to do this by chance??? Personally speaking, I find it easier to learn by watching someone else doing it. Thanks for all you do sir!

I too have followed the steps given.i have done them seven times with the same file to no avail.other programs can do this in one attempt, consider that the program is missing a part of the process.i would be greatfull for atleast looking at this internally.untill this is fixed I will use other means, but I would prefer to use only gamegenie for all my needs. I don't want to pay another guy just for one thing when it need not be neccasary.still a big fan of gamegenie.thank you much.

Can you tell us which game(s) you have this issue? Also, is your PS3 profile linked to a PSN account at all?

You can only use saves for your region.

Though in some cases you can do what we call the "rename trick"
Information on that can be found in my Guide here
